It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Shirley Constance (Hayes) Jardine which occurred at Carleton Kirk Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 9th, 2018. Born in Montreal in 1930, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Velma (Bushey) Hayes and was the widow of Constable Thomas Jardine. Shirley worked for Investor’s Syndicate and later Central Trust. She was devoted to her Baptist faith, was a member of Edith Avenue Baptist Church and the Orange Lodge, was an avid reader, and was an accomplished crocheter. Shirley loved her family and her cats.
Shirley is survived by her special daughter Carolyn Cook (Robert); son-in-law Hal Williams; step grandchildren Debi Maxted (Rick), Doug Williams (Carolyn), David Williams, and their children; special friends Dale O’Donnell (Warren) and Annie McKinney (the late Fred); several cousins and friends. Besides her husband and parents, Shirley was predeceased by her son William Jardine, her daughters Velma Jardine and Ann Grass-Williams, and her siblings Albert, Aubrey, Cecil, and Hazel.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation being held from the former St. Joachim’s Church (603 Loch Lomond Road) on Monday, January 15th from 11 to 1 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 1 p.m. followed by an interment at Ocean View Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Shirley may be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, Alzheimer’s Society, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
