Sadly, the family of Sheldon Troy Bowman, late of Ahtahkakoop First Nation, announce his sudden and unexpected passing on January 12, 2018 at the age of 50 years. Sheldon was born on July 6, 1967 in Shellbrook, SK. Sheldon is survived by his son, Jordan Sasakamoose, Saskatoon, SK; his daughter, Nadine Sasakamoose, Ahtahkakoop First Nation, SK; his grandson, Silas Raven Lerat, Saskatoon, SK; his sisters, Wanda Sand, Mistawasis First Nation, SK; Melanie Sand, Winnipeg, MB; Adrienne Bowman, Winnipeg, MB; Brianne Sand, Winnipeg, MB; his brother, Andre Sand, Winnipeg, MB; his maternal grandfather, Albert Starblanket, Ahtahkakoop First Nation, SK; numerous nieces and nephews; his adoptive sisters, Della Delorme, North Battleford, SK; Hazel Bear, Prince Albert, SK; Inez (Kerry) Paul, Prince Albert, SK; his adoptive brothers, Harvey Ahenakew, Ahtahkakoop First Nation, SK; Arnold (Jean) Ahenakew, Prince Albert, SK; Barry Ahenakew, Ahtahkakoop First Nation, SK; Garvin (Leatha) Bird, Regina, SK; his adoptive sister-in-law, Connie Peekeekoot, Prince Albert, SK. He was predeceased by, his infant son, Jared Samuel Ahenakew; his mother, Beatrice Sand (nee Bowman); his maternal grandmother, Janette Dreaver; his adoptive parents, Archdeacon Andrew and Mary Alice Ahenakew; his adoptive brothers and sisters-in-law, Arthur Ahenakew; John Ahenakew; Simone Ahenakew; and Linda Ahenakew.
The Wake Service for Sheldon will commence at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Ahtahkakoop First Nation Band Hall and the Funeral Service will be on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. also from the Band Hall. The services will be officiated by Reverend Marj Hyman, Layreader Margaret Ahenakew, and Reverend Sam Halkett. Pallbearers will be Dallas Ahenakew, Kevin Sasakamoose, Marlin Tawpisim, Irvin Peekeekoot, Neil Sasakamoose, and Glen Bear. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of Sheldon’s family, his friends, and all those with whom he made a lasting impression.
