Sheila Ruth Gudmundson June 25th 2018

Born in Yorkton, SK on September 19, 1951, Sheila has passed away on Monday, June 25, 2018. Sheila was predeceased by her husband Dallas in 1995, brother Gordon in 1980, and her father Gordon in 1999. She is survived by her sons Sean and Derek (Leah) and grandson Alex; her mother Ruth McMillan; her sisters Sharlene (Merv) Wasylenchuk and Marlene (Dan) Brown; nephews Barry (Rachele) Wasylenchuk, Danny (Sasha) Wasylenchuk, Sheldon Wasylenchuk (Patty Boychuk), James Brown (Shannon McIntosh), and Steven (Amy) Brown.
Sheila was a loving mother to her sons Derek and Sean and struggled to raise two boys alone after the loss of her husband Dallas. However, she always welcomed their friends and made them feel at home and very often was setting another place at the table for them. The boys and their friends spent many long hot summer days at the pool in her back yard and Sheila was always generous at providing nachos to feed the hungry crowd.
Sheila was a lover of all animals, her dogs (Cleo, Beau, and Belle) and her cats (Missy and Casper). She also helped to provide care for many exotic animals Sean brought home. There were many more that passed through her home and all received loving care. She especially appreciated the companionship and protection of Beau and Belle after her children became adults.
She was overjoyed to become a grandmother when Alex was born on December 26, 2016. Unfortunately, debilitating back pain seriously limited her activities with him.
Sheila had a number of jobs throughout her life mostly focused on the accounting side of the work. She helped manage many of Dallas’ business adventures including booking agency work, Bingo Halls, and Flea Markets. The last 20 years before she retired were spent as a dedicated worker in the Social Services accounting department. After she retired her co-workers still consulted with her about issues to tap into her extensive knowledge on policies.
Sheila was a perfectionist and a neat freak and she spent many hours sorting and putting away in order all the toys that the kids would take out to play with during the day. She often ran late at getting ready for family functions because she would have to do everything exactly perfect before she could go.
She had a good sense of humor and when getting together with her family was always quick to add joking comments on funny situations. She enjoyed the challenges of all kinds of puzzles and quizzes which she was quite good at. She did cross-stitching and wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps making quilts but again was restricted by her increasing limitations with back pain. She was a very good cook and prepared delicious backribs for a family BBQ just a couple of weeks before her passing.
She was an avid Rider fan and enjoyed watching all their games wearing all her Rider attire.
She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
A private family funeral including friends and coworkers is being arranged and notice for such will be provided on social media.
