La célébration de
Sheila Anne Frid
25 mars 1935 –
18 mars 2018
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children at Ian Anderson House Hospice on March 18, 2018 at the age of 82, after a long and courageous battle with breast cancer. Beloved and devoted wife of Bradley for 57 years. Much loved mother of Stephanie (Tim Kent), Janice (Perry Mason) and David Frid. Cherished and dedicated grandmother to Jacqueline, Sandra, Natalie, Gillian and Nicholas. Faithful sister to Gwen McNeil and aunt to Kathy and Rod. Sheila graduated from the Canadian Mothercraft Society as a Well-Baby Nurse in 1955. She began working private duty cases followed by working at Women’s College Hospital in the nursery, as well as for Toronto paediatrician Dr. Helen McKinley. As a long time resident of the Applewood Heights community, Sheila worked tirelessly volunteering and dedicating her time to others. She was a member of both St. Luke’s-on-the-Hill and Applewood United Church, as well as the Dixie Curling Club for many years. Sheila enjoyed her many travel adventures with Brad. Her greatest joy came from watching her children and grandchildren frolic at the cottage in Muskoka. A “live in the moment” kind of person, Sheila was always a genuine, positive person. A caring, compassionate and vibrant spirit who always put others first. Many thanks to the staff at the Betty & Buster Lockwood Cancer Centre at Trillium Queensway, the Ian Anderson House Hospice and the home care teams.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the Trillium Partners Foundation or the Ian Anderson House Hospice. Online condolences may be made through www.turnerporter.ca
