Sharon Lillian Vasil
Vasil, Sharon Lillian, age 73, of Sherbrooke,
Guysborough County passed away at home peacefully on April 7,
2018.
Born on May 21, 1944 in Halifax, she was the eldest
child of the late Harold and Hazel (Pryde)
Blenkhorn.
Sharon and Bill made their permanent home in
Sherbrooke where they raised their four children and became a huge
part of the community. Sharon worked at Mackaracher’s
Nursing Home and as a guide with Sherbrooke Village. She volunteered
with Sherbrooke’s Old Fashion Christmas, Women’s
Institute, the Lioness Club, local Bible studies and the Fire
Department.
She is survived by her children: Billy, Antigonish;
Jimmy, New Glasgow; Sherry Lynn, Antigonish; daughter-in-law,
Christina Ketchum, Wembley, Alta; brother, Paul (Jane) Blenkhorn,
Hamilton, Ont.; grandchildren: Tara, Courtney, Lisa, Aaron;
nieces/nephews: Tanya, Erin and Jesse Blenkhorn; Kimmy, Barbie and
Bradley Jenkins.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her
beloved husband of forty-four years, William Vasil; youngest son,
David; sister in law, Arlene (Bruce)
Jenkins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April
10th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in St. James
Presbyterian Church, Sherbrooke Village. Funeral service on Wednesday
at 11:00 am in St. James Presbyterian Church with Reverend Derek
Ellsworth presiding. Burial in Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
Donations in memory may be made to Sherbrooke
Ballfield. Funeral under the direction of C.L. Curry Funeral Home, On
