1918-2018
It is with sadness that we announce the
passing of Sadie Allen, 99, of
Springhill, NS on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Born in Springhill,
Sadie was a daughter of the late Charles and Viola (Campbell)
Ashe.
Sadie was a member of the Royal Canadian
Legion, Branch 17, Springhill. She was a dedicated blood
donor and an avid Bingo player. She had been a widow of the
1958 Springhill Mine Disaster having lost her husband, Fidell
Allen.
She will be dearly missed by her
children, Deon (Christina) Allen, Barrie, ON, Hollis Reinders,
Springhill, and Cherry (Dave) Cook, Calgary; fifteen grandchildren,
and many great and great-great grandchildren as well as several nieces
and nephews.
Sadie was the last surviving member of
her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was
predeceased by her husband, Fidell, her daughter Viola and two sisters
and two brothers.
Arrangements are under the care and
supervision of A.H. Brown Funeral Home, 5
McFarlane Street, Springhill (902-597-2361) from where a visitation
for Sadie will take place on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 1 pm until
the time of the funeral service at 2 pm. Burial to follow in
the Hillside Cemetery.
Donations in memory of Sadie may be made
to High Crest Nursing Home.
