GAGNIER, Ruth Ida (nee Hofstetter)
February 24th, 1923 – December 12th, 2018
Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 95 years of age.
Beloved wife of Omer Gagnier (2005). Loving mother of Lorraine & Paul Murphy, Bruce Gagnier, Elizabeth & Keith Bruce, Gary & Heidi Gagnier, David & Cindy Gagnier, and Michelle Gagnier (2003). Dearest grandmother to Kristine, Karolyn, Michael (Nicole), Kathryn (Andrew), Jennifer (Elliott), Peter (Megan), Marion (Benjamin), Heather (Marc), Ian, Kristopher, Rachel (Kris), David (Jessie), Brianne and Meagan. Adoring great-grandmother to Courtney, Riley, Parker, Kaden, Alexandra, Jordan, Breton, Scarlet, Holden, Carter, Catriona, Jude, Isabelle, Kobe, Maren, Kallie, Konnor, Desmond, Mia, Erik, Miranda, Ella, Raine, and Jack. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and two goddaughters.
Born in 1923 to Edward & Amelia Hofstetter in Kitchener, Ontario. Sister of the late Earl Hofstetter and Marie Mahn. She cherished 60 years of marriage to her dashing WWII RCAF pilot and best friend, Omer. Ruth was a warm and nurturing lady who took pride in her family and their accomplishments. She loved to sew and read. She was a collector of carnival glass, an active member and past president of Maple City Questers, and was very involved with Es Community Living and Harrow Respite Home. She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran faith and a church member in Kitchener, Windsor, Harrow, and Amherstburg. She actively participated in Church devotional groups and the LWML. She lived her faith and will be missed by her family and many friends. She was an amazing woman.
Visitation will take place at the JAMES H. SUTTON FUNERAL HOME, 401 Sandwich Street South, Amherstburg (519-736-2134) on Sunday December 16th, 2018 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue on Monday December 17th, 2018 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 11 Concession 3 N, Amherstburg from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Victoria Memorial Gardens. In kindness, memorial donations can be made to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or to Community Living Es County (Harrow Respite).
