Roy Kruse Petersen “Butch”
September 4, 1938 – November 26, 2018
Roy “Butch” Petersen passed away peacefully in the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital, on November 26, 2018 at the age of 80 years. He was born in Wainwright and moved north to Fort St. John in the late 50’s and remained there for 10 years, working in the refinery in Taylor, BC. He then met his future wife Darlene, and they married in 1960. They then moved to Grande Prairie in 1970.
Throughout the years Roy played in several bands; the music and his farm were the pleasures of his life.
He will be missed by his wife Darlene, grandsons Mitchell Petersen (Samantha) and Jordan Petersen of Red Deer, great grandchildren Roy and Alix and many nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Roy was pre-deceased by his son Scott, brothers Soren, Jens and Neils, his sisters Yrsa and Gudrun.
A Gathering of Friends will be held on Tuesday, December 11, 2018, from 1-3 at the Royal Canadian Legion, 9912-101 Avenue, Grande Prairie.
