Rowswell, Winnifred Irene (nee Dale)
On June 13, 2018 Winnifred (Winnie) Rowswell of St. Albert – formerly longtime rural Gibbons resident – passed away peacefully at the Sturgeon Community Hospital at the age of 98.
She is survived by her children Lynda (Don) Bland of Bon Accord, Rick (Stella) of Sherwood Park, Judi (Jerry) Woytack of Victoria, BC, Irene (Andy) Serink of Gibbons, Don “Mac” (Jeannie) of St. Albert, Garth (Luanne) of Vermillion, Ian of Saskatoon, SK and Claire Card of Saskatoon, SK. She will also be remembered by 20 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren, sisters-in-law Dorothy and Eileen, as well as extended family and friends.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Richard “Dick” in 2002 and one great grandchild Jaedon Bland in 1998, her mother Louise “Jane” in 1931, father Fred in 1974 and her brother William.
Winnie loved her family and her life on the farm. Her love of horses from early childhood gave her great pleasure. She will be remembered as a kind, loving person. The family would like to acknowledge and thank all her caregivers over the past few years, be it in retirement living or hospital and rehabilitation, for their kindness and wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sturgeon Hospital Foundation, the CNIB or to the charity of one’s choice.
