Obituary Overview
Wayne Ferrie
Wayne passed away peacefully at St Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Centre at the age of 81 years, with family at his side.
Beloved husband, father and grandfather, he will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years Donna, brother Garth, son Kevin (Angela), daughter Gaylene, granddaughters Sylvia and Rebecca Pidgeon, and grandson Jordan Pidgeon.
We are fortunate to have many wonderful family photos as Wayne was a talented photographer. He is missed by all of us. Wayne and Donna loved camping and taught their children to appreciate nature with annual holidays to the mountains, camping in a tiny trailer and hiking during the day. He also enjoyed summers at the lake with family and friends, and created many happy memories. After a distinguished career with PFRA, he enjoyed a retirement of 28 years. Grandchildren were fortunate to spent weeks every summer with Wayne and Donna at the lake. Wayne and Donna enjoyed vacations and one highlight was their trip to Cuba with Kevin and Angela. Wayne’s constant companion was a sweet ragamuffin black terrier that he named Paddy. She was his shadow for 15 years.
Wayne suffered with cancer and was courageous, positive and loving throughout his journey. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to our dear friends who have shared their love with our family. Doreen and Al, Armand and Barb, and Marianne and Bob, thank you for your friendship. We also want to express gratitude to the Cancer Clinic at RUH, particularly Dr. Goubran and Julia, the chemotherapy clinic staff, volunteer drivers (you became friends), the home care staff, and the staff and volunteers at the Palliative Care Centre at St. Paul’s Hospital. We will never forget the compassionate care you provided to our whole family.
If you wish to provide a memorial donation, please consider a donation to the Saskatoon Cancer Centre.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Robert Wayne Ferrie 2018..
