Obituary Overview
In Loving Memory
LAMBERT, Robert Kenneth Brian “Buffalo Eagle”
August 19, 1952-September 8, 2018
Robert passed away suddenly at the age of 66. Buffalo Eagle was originally from the Mic Mac First Nation with ancestral ties to the Mohawk Nation and considered all Metis Nations his family. He was born in Kingston Ontario, of the Bear Clan.
With particular pride in living a traditional life and embracing his indigenous culture. Robert’s biggest gift was his love for others and the wish to bring people together. And family above all.
Robert’s career took him down many different paths across Canada and the US. He enjoyed his many years of service at Kingston Transit, and in the funeral business. He enjoyed working and giving back to his community. He was a professional Santa Claus for years, with experience in many parades, notably the Kingston Parade. He was a volunteer with the United Way, the Aboriginal Friendship Center in Kingston which led to his election of Chief of an Intermingled Tribe of Indigenous Peoples in Florida. Upon his return to Canada, Buffalo Eagle began a tough battle with cancer. He then moved to the Windsor Es Region to continue his fight and be closer to his family. While living in this area, Robert continued to pursue his love and passion of bringing people together through the Can-Am Friendship Center.
He was also a huge sports fan. He enjoyed ALL sports and anything sport related! His favorites were baseball, he was a semi-professional umpire for years, he played broomball, was a former Canadian Wrestler, hockey, and curling. He was a collector of many things: hockey/baseball cards, coins, stamps, Esso Gas Station drinking glasses, lapel pins, Jackie Gleason/Honeymooner hats, (and more…)
Robert leaves behind his son Justin and wife Mandy, and was predeceased by his son Travis (2016) and wife Janine. Proud Papa of Brooklyn, Jackson, Hannah and Nettie. He is now reunited with his brothers Mark, Paul, Danny, J.R. Kompier, Stuart Atkins, and sister Deborah. Surviving siblings Mike (Rita), Diane Tobias, Susan Kompier, Scotty Atkins and Tao Kompier. He was the former husband of Christine Cannell, Susan Cupido, and Pamela Davison. Adored by many generations of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, and many friends who will miss his gentle soul and kindness.
At his request, a private family smudging service will be followed by cremation. A celebration of Robert’s life will be held in Kingston at Zorbas Banquet Hall, 1474 Bath Road Kingston, ON 5pm-9pm.
