It is with saddened hearts that we share the passing of Robert (Bob) Evans of Nanton, Alberta. Bob was predeceased by his parents William and Erva Evans and sister Noel Plant. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Carol; daughters Stephanie and Wanda (Lorne); son Jason (Jamie); grandchildren Carson, Jacey, Ashley, Kenneth, Danielle, Megan, Riley and Conner.
Born and raised in Bracken, Saskatchewan, Bob took over the family grain and cattle farm after graduating from high school. He was very involved in the Bracken community as a municipal councillor, director of the local Credit Union, volunteered as a projection operator for the theatre and sat on the School and Co-op board. In 1958 he obtained his private pilot’s licence, bought his own airplane and became an active Saskatchewan Flying Farmer. Through this connection he met his wife, Carol.
In 1975, the family moved to Nanton where they have resided for the last 42 years. He proudly gave back to the Nanton community serving as the curator and editor of the biannual Newsletter for the Bomber Command Museum of Canada (formerly Nanton Lancaster Museum) and a charter member of the Nanton Lions Club.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nanton Lancaster Museum (1659 – 21st Avenue, Hwy 2 South, Nanton, Alberta) on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2:00 pm. A reception will follow at the museum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to the Bomber Command Museum of Canada (P.O. Box 1051, Nanton, Alberta T0L 1R0) or the charity of your choice.
