Robert (Bob) Fleury
Robert (Bob) Fleury Bob was born October 6, 1939 in Ponteix, Saskatchewan to Reo Fleury and Therese Fleury. He married Edna Lafrance on August 19, 1961. They recently celebrated their 57th Anniversary. Bob and Edna settled down in Shaunavon where they began their family . They had Dean Fleury now of Swift Current and Lori (Fleury) Jake now of Colorado Springs, Colorado. In the 1980’s the family moved to Swift Current. Bob’s early professional pursuits included owning a painting and flooring company, Fleury’s Color Center. However, the majority of his working years were spent working in the oil fields. He worked in many capacities and was known as a hard worker, a fair supervisor, and a great mentor in his oil field career. In his retirement years he had the opportunity to do some odd jobs, including helping on a local farm, which he really enjoyed. Throughout his life Bob was a curious person. He never met a stranger and enjoyed learning from everyone he met. He was well known for his gift of gab and sharing his opinions, but when you spent time with him, you realized quickly he was actually a great listener and was seeking to understand. Bob’s curiosity was also fueled by his reading. He loved to read and especially loved the old fashioned newspapers. In addition, Bob spent most mornings having coffee with “the guys”, starting out his day with longtime friends solving world problems. Ultimately, Bob’s passion was his family. Bob loved his wife and spending time with her traveling, puttering around the house and spending time at the lake house. Enthusiastic does not describe how Bob supported his kids and grandkids in their individual pursuits. Bob often helped his kids & grandkids get to their practices; he rarely missed any of their practices sessions or competitions. Spending time with his family hanging out at the lake, enjoying meals together, working on projects, or just helping with errands was his favorite pastime. Bob passed away in Swift Current on September 6, 2018 at Cypress Hospital after a short illness. He was predeceased by his father Reo Fleury and his mother Therese Fleury; brother Cleo Fleury and sister Carol Sawchuk. He is survived by his wife Edna Fleury; siblings Rhea (Edgar) Coderre, Beatrice (Jim) Gramlich children Dean (Brenda) Fleury, Lori (Michael) Jake; grandchildren: Brian (Christina))Fleury, Tyler (Shalayna) Fleury, Josh Jake; and great grandson Beau Fleury. In addition, he has many nieces and nephews whom were an important part of his family. Bob will be greatly missed by his family and those lives he touched. It has been comforting to the family sharing all their “Bob” stories and hearing new stories this past week. Also, the family is comforted knowing that Bob’s memory and influence will continue on in the many lives he touched. Prayers Service was held September 10th at 7:00 pm at Christ the Redeemer Catholic Church. His funeral service was September 11th at 11:00 am with Father R. Alvarez presiding. His final interment is at Memory Gardens. Donations can be made to the Knights of Columbus, the S.P.C.A. or to the AA. Warren’s Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
