We regret to announce the passing of Rita Marie Aucoin age 91 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital on February 15, 2018.
Born in St..Joseph’s Dumoine, Rita was the daughter of the late Lucy Anne and Joseph Aucoin.
Rita worked at Woolworths for over 30 years. She was a quiet gentle person who put everyone’s needs above her own. Rita was a very religious person who attended mass daily when she was able. She belonged to a charismatic prayer group, Carmelites and also was a Eucharistic Minister.
Rita is survived by her sisters, Leona Sheppard with whom she resided, Margaret (Mel) Saniga, Brampton, Ont., Isabelle (Danny) MacLennan, New Waterford, Rachelle Nugent, Sydney, Justine Ryan, Dartmouth, and one brother, Albert (Norma) Aucoin, Sydney; she is also survived by many nieces and nephews especially Denise Aucoin.
Besides her parents, Rita was predeceased by her brothers, Clarence and Ivan
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith Street , New Waterford.
A Funeral Mass of celebration will be held in the Parish Church of St. Leonard 0n Wednesday, Febuary 21,2018 at 10 am with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial to follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery , with a luncheon at the KOC Hall, New Waterford.
Donations can be made to Nora’s House or to a charity of one’s choice.
