It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Rhoda Geraldine Howard which occurred in Red Lake, ON, on Wednesday February 7, 2018 at the age of 87. She was born December 27, 1930, in Saint John, NB. She was the eldest daughter of the late Ivan and Hilda (Ricker) Nelson.
In her early years she was employed at Sears Canada in Kingston, ON for many years. Her greatest love and accomplishment, however, was being a wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed beyond measure. She is survived by her children Sharon Foxon (Gordon), Winnipeg, MB; Stephen Howard (Cathy), Meaford, ON; Brenda Green (Paul) Red Lake, ON; 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grand children; sisters Marjorie Graham (Bart), Donna Godfrey (William) and sisters-in-law Ngaire Nelson (Richard) and Wanda Nelson (Everett) all of Saint John, NB., as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rhoda was predeceased by husbands Sgt. Edward H. Howard and Douglas Hargreaves; daughter, Linda Doiron (JP), Shediac, NB and brothers Royden, Murray, William, Richard and Everett Nelson.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Rhoda’s life will be held at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, 1900 John Counter Boulevard in Kingston, ON, on Friday, May 11 at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends prior to the Chapel service from 10:00 am until 10:50 am. Following interment at Glenhaven Memorial Gardens, all are invited to a reception in the James Reid Reception Centre. As an expression of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or, Canadian Diabetes Association, in Mrs. Howard’s memory.
