Obituary for Rennie “Rene” Beintema
Following a courageous struggle with ALS and dementia, Rene passed into eternal rest at his home in Grimsby, on Monday, January 1, 2018, in his 60th year. Beloved husband of Joan (nee van Weerden). Loved father of Lauren Hutten (Michael), Diedre Rozema (Eric) and Wendell Beintema. Cherished grandfather of Cullen and Bennett. Dear son of Martha and the late Harmen Beintema and son-in-law of the late Willemina and Garbrand van Weerden. Loved brother of John and Martha Beintema, Robert and Peggy Beintema, Jerry and Wendy Beintema, Fred and Ann Beintema and the late Hendrika and Dennis Chevalier. Brother-in-law of Konnie and the late Garnet Peet, Ava and the late Herman Sandink, Pieter and Karen van Weerden, Julie and Albert van Tol, Neil and Liz van Weerden and Diederik van Weerden. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews. Rene’s passion was his work. As a long time local business owner and operator of Bevan Glass, he contributed to custom glass installations in many local schools, churches and homes. Devoted to his church community and family, he enjoyed spending time and sharing experiences with those close to him. Memories of enjoying Rene’s favourite music, books and movies with him will be cherished by all who knew him. Visitation at Covenant Canadian Reformed Church, 480 Woolverton Road, Grassie, on Thursday, January 4, 2018, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where the Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 5, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Grimsby Mountain Cemetery. If desired, memorial contributions to Niagara Christian Gleaners or Grimsby Life Centre would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
