Rebecca Ann (Girlie) Yellow Horn of the Piikani Nation passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the Pincher Creek Municipal Hospital.

Grandchildren; Tristan Taj Warrior, Jerez, Jerel, Trevin, Hunter, Kash, Kendra, Tiera, Aaliyah, Alex & Abel.
Adopted family; Tyrone Potts, Stanley Pard, Alfred Iron Shirt, Woodrow Northman, Alex Weasel Bear, Marvin Yellow Wings, Yarlott family from Crow Agency and Harriet Dickie.
Rebecca was predeceased by her parents Thomas Bull Pen and Ida Yellow Horn, brothers; Ivan Glen, Randy, John Stanley Yellow Horn and John Fletcher, Brother-in-law Buster Leider Jr., Niece Gina Yellow Horn, Adopted brother Leon Iron Shirt.
Rebecca’s education began at the Kindergarten day school in Brocket, her elementary years of grade 1 – 4 at Central school, grade 5 & 6 at Canyon School in Pincher Creek. Rebecca attended St. Mary’s in Standoff for her Jr. High school years and graduated grade 9 at the Peigan Day School. Rebecca’s post secondary education included Environmental Studies at the Lethbridge College and the Bess Program at the University of Lethbridge.
Rebecca was employed at various venues within The Piikani Nation, through out her life, the most recent with the newly opened Piikani Homeless Shelter. Rebecca enjoyed working at the shelter, as she mentored many individuals through her employment there.
Rebecca was a member of the Zion II Church, and in her early years enjoyed attending camp meetings and revivals through out the year.
Family & friends are invited to a wake service on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at 3:00pm and Monday October 1, 2018 at Jason Yellow Horn’s residence. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at the Peigan Community Hall. Pastor Oliver Yarlott will be officiating the service, Interment at the Peigan Cemetery.
