Ray Trudeau
Sun rise – March 6, 1936 Sun set – April 3, 2018
On April 3rd we lost a gentleman and a gentle man. Ray Trudeau much loved partner of Lynne Stoesz is now free from the heartache of his dementia.
Ray is survived by his “Honey” Lynne and her family Trevor, (Corrie, Dakota and Chaz), Sean, (Sheri, Tyler and Tegan), Melissa (Sam), Samantha (Tristan and Bentlee).
His family Marc, (Crystal, Kylie, Jenna and Jhan), Paul (Eric and Matthew).
His siblings Rita, Denis, their families and sister-in-law Joy.
How lucky are we to have shared our lives with someone who makes saying goodbye so hard.
He was predeceased by his parents Lise and Olier, brother Emile, brother-in-law Lyle and sister-in-law Kathryn. What a party that is!
Ray was born in Lorette Mb and moved to Winnipeg at the age of 7. Speaking only French and having no shoes, he went to school in old rubber boots which earned him the ridicule of the other students, and likely turned him into the feisty, determined Frenchman we all knew and loved. Leaving school at the end of Grade 6, he worked many jobs eventually landing at Eaton’s and then being lured to Pillsbury where he happily remained until retiring 34 yrs later.
Retirement years were good to Ray and Lynne, they built their dream home on Lee River and travelled to each and every destination on their Bucket List. Grand Beach, Lac du Bonnet and Rincon de Guayabitos were not only Ray’s favourite places to be but also where his circle of friends grew, many becoming like family.
In 2004 Ray was diagnosed with Dementia, which was later determined to be Lewey Body with Parkinson’s. Our world was changed forever. We are blessed to have travelled this journey with many guardian angels, the first being Autumn to whom we will be forever grateful for her support and help in adjusting to our new reality. We also wish to thank the awesome staffs at St, Boniface Hospital, Foyer Valade and recently Tache 4C who went above and beyond to care for Ray and treated him with the dignity he deserved.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday April 12 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd.
To honour Ray we ask that you give flowers to someone you love, visit an old friend or help someone in need. He would love that.
