February 10, 1924 – May 10, 2018
Peacefully to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at 5:20 a.m., at Lakeridge Health Hospital Palliative Care Unit, Oshawa, ON, in his 95th year. Father to Edward Holman (Teresa) and Susan Jewell (Michael). Grandfather to Laura Holman. Special “Adopted Father” (aka “Pa”) to Cindy Blake (Paul).
Predeceased by his parents Jessie and Clarence Holman, his sister Rilda Ross and his brother Allan Holman. Ray was an active volunteer within his church (Brooklin United Church, Brooklin, ON, and St. Luke’s Presbyterian Church, Oshawa, ON), as well as Bestview Nursing Home (aka Thortonview Long Term Care, Oshawa, ON).
Ray was an avid fisherman, gardener, wood worker and enjoyed “puttering” in his workshop or the garage. He was a well-liked neighbour as he would always lend a helping hand.
Visitation will take place at Barnes Memorial Funeral Home, 5295 Thickson Road North, Whitby (905-655-3662) on Monday May 14th, from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service in the Barnes Chapel Monday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
A reception will follow the service. Interment will follow at Groveside Cemetery.
In memory of Ray, memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be appreciated.
