Rachel Currie

Currie, Rachel, 48, of Frasers Mills, Antigonish
County.
Rachel spent her life creating a legacy. She died December
1st , 2018, in St. Martha’s
Regional Hospital, Antigonish, where she was born on February
6th 1970. She is the 4th
child of Sheldon and Dawn (Wolstenholme) Currie of St.
Andrews.
Rachel is survived by her husband, Jerry Smith; her sons,
Declan, Kuri, and Colin, all at home; brothers, Mark (Janice), Pictou;
John, Pomquet; sister, Mairi (Donnie MacIsaac), Wolfville; and her
nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special
friends, Janace Daley and Marguerite MacGillivray.
Rachel is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Hazel and
John Wolstenholme, and paternal grandparents, Mary and Charles Currie;
and mother and father-in-law, Janann and Stanley Smith.
Rachel graduated from St. FX University with a BA, B Ed, and
from Dalhousie University with an MSc. in Speech Language Pathology.
She was employed by the Strait Regional School Board for the
past 19 years . She worked as a Speech Language Pathologist and
currently held a position as a Vice Principal at St. Andrew’s Junior
School, Antigonish. Rachel’s favourite day of the
year was the 1st day of School. She loved
nothing better than being the first face that the kids saw when they
passed through the front door. She always had a welcoming
smile and a positive comment for all students. Rachel’s
strength and courage were admired by all who had the privilege to know
her. She collected friends like she collected
rocks.
A celebration of her life will be held at a Mass in St.
Andrew’s Church, St. Andrews, Antigonish County, on Wednesday,
December 5, at 11:00am, Reverend Donald MacGillivray
presiding. Friends and family are invited to a reception at
St. Andrew’s Community Centre immediately following.

Rachel was a beautiful loving soul. Her smile and warmth lit up any room she was in. Rachel was an inspiration to all who knew her. My prayers and with Jerry and the boys and the rest of her family,friends, and co workers. Sandi Irving
