Preston Charters
1928-2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Preston Victor
Charters announce his passing on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the age
of 90 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton,
New Brunswick surrounded by his children.
Preston will be lovingly remembered by his wife and
best friend of 66 years, Elizabeth (Fowler) and his children Stephen
Charters (Marilyn), Sharon Charters, and predeceased by his daughter
Barbara Charters.
Preston will also be fondly remembered by his seven
grandchildren, Preston Smith (Andrea), Jonathan Fischer, Lindsay
Fischer, Sarah Fischer (Ryan), Pamela Fulton (Chris), Julia Lavery
(Jim), and Thomas Charters (Janelle) and eleven great-grandchildren,
Dylan, Tyler, Wyatt, Owen, Aiden, Jacob, Isla, Lily, Emma, Raymond,
and Bernie.
Preston was born in New Maryland, NB on June 12,
1928, the youngest of 7 children, to parents John and Mabel (Logan)
Charters. He was a kind, soft spoken man that was an active member of
his community and church. Preston served with the Canadian Armed
Forces for 24 years, stationed in Germany and Winnipeg and was known
by his military brothers as “Chic”. On December 24,
1951 he married the love of his life, Elizabeth (Fowler) and was
always by her side. He was an avid outdoors man that loved to hunt,
fish, and garden and had a wonderful sense of humour but above all
else he loved his family and took every opportunity to bring us all
together in celebration.
There will be no visitation. A funeral service in
memory of Preston will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at 1 p.m.
at the New Maryland United Church, 875 Route 101 HWY Nasonworth, NB
with Rev. Dr. Kelly Burke officiating.
Thank you to the nursing staff at the Dr. Everett
Chalmers Hospital on 4SW. Memorial donations, in memory of Preston can
be made to the organization of the donors choice.
