À l’Hôtel-Dieu de Sherbrooke le 4 décembre 2018 à l’âge de 90 ans est décédé M. Pierre Jutras, né à Montréal, demeurant à Magog. Il était le fils de feu Fernand Jutras et feu Flore Durocher, l’époux en premières noces de feu Alice Mackay et en deuxièmes noces d’Agnès Bastin Jutras.
Outre son épouse, il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants John, Deedee (Brian Appleby) et Rose (Andrew Langendorf); son frère Guy Jutras (Hélène), sa sœur feu Lise Jutras; les enfants d’Agnès: Cécile Bastin (Sylvain Côté) et Gauthier Bastin (Isabelle Banville); ses petits-enfants : Jennie (Craig Johnson), Christina, Dru (Christie), Evan et Cole; son arrière-petite-fille Alice Johnson; les petits-enfants de la famille Bastin : Olivier, Anthony, Charlotte, Anne, Marie et Louis. Il sera regretté par toute sa famille et ses amis.
La famille vous accueillera le samedi 15 décembre 2018 à 10h30 pour une cérémonie en sa mémoire au Complexe funéraire Ledoux.
JUTRAS, Pierre. Magog — Pierre Jutras, P.Eng., P.Ag., died peacefully at age 90 on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at the Hôtel-Dieu Hospital in Sherbrooke. He was the eldest son of the late Fernand and Flore (Durocher) Jutras. Pierre was predeceased in 1996 by his wife of 42 years, Alice MacKay. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Agnes Bastin Jutras; his three children, John Jutras, Dee Appleby (Brian) of Truro, NS and Rose Jutras (Andrew Langendorf) of Utah; five grandchildren Dru (Christie), Evan and Cole Langendorf of Utah and Galiano Island, Jennie Johnson (Craig) and Christina Appleby of Truro, NS, and great-granddaughter Alice Johnson. Step-children Cécile Bastin (Sylvain Coté) and Gauthier Bastin (Isabelle Banville) and six step-grandchildren Olivier and Antony Coté; Charlotte, Anne, Marie and Louis Bastin. Brother Guy Jutras (Helen) and their children and grandchildren. Predeceased by his sister, Lise (Ed Cantin and Eliane Stassart) and their children and grandchildren. Special nieces Irene Quisenberry and Teresa Weachter of Tampa and their families.
A graduate of Macdonald College of McGill University (B.Sc. in Agr. ’51) and University of Maine (MSc. in Engineering ’57), Pierre was born in Montreal and dedicated his life to advancements in the field of agricultural engineering in Quebec, specializing in drainage and irrigation. He was inducted into the Agricultural Hall of Fame of Quebec in 2002, following a lifelong career that left a permanent impact on the diversification of Quebec agriculture.
Pierre established and operated two manufacturing facilities in plastic drainage tubing and in 1977, returned to Macdonald College as a professor. He took part in many missions to developing countries in rural Africa and Asia.
Pierre (“Poppa”) will be fondly remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, from a generation that valued hard work, integrity and dedication to family and profession. A celebration of life will take place December 15, 2018 at 10:30 a.m., Ledoux Funeral Complex, 155 Sherbrooke St., Magog and again next summer in Vale Perkins, Quebec near his beloved Lake Memphremagog.

I am saddened to note the passing of Pierre whom I have known since 1977 as my colleague. He impressed me with his wit and wisdom; his organizational skills, and his interests with his students are always to be remembered.
