Pearl Mary Avery Baker 1924 2017

Obituary for Pearl Avery (Baker)
Departed the physical world December 30th 2017 at Pleasant View Towers, St. John’s NL at the age of 93.
Pearl was born October 31st 1924 to Leah & Patrick (Paddy) Baker of Broad Cove, Fortune Bay, NL; the youngest of 6 children.
Upon leaving home as a young girl she worked in service for a time which was not uncommon for her generation and circumstances. After moving to Corner Brook and working for a time she moved to St. John’s, NL where her sisters Blanche and Anne resided.
It was here she met and married Leonard Leslie (Les) Noftall of St. John’s. They worked hard to provide a good home for their four surviving children; Jocilyn ( New Brunswick), Beverley, (Portugal Cove),Wayne (Alberta) and Terry (St. John’s).
Pearl and Les’ life together was cut short when Les died after a courageous battle with ALS in 1976. The love of her life, he was forever missed.
Pearl later met and remarried William Thomas Avery (deceased) of Hillview, NL.
Her loss is mourned by her children, eight grand children and five great grand children including a small circle of family and friends.
Special thanks to the staff of 4SE Pleasant View Towers who were there for us at this difficult time; forever grateful. To Lynn Lawlor of Karwood Retreat; a friend and care giver. To Judy Locke, my dear friend who has been with us through thick and thin. To her nephew Fred and great niece Michelle, thank you. Your visits brightened her days in care. To Barrett’s whose kindness, caring and loving attention to Mom is very appreciated. Thank you Shane. A door closes and another opens; so begins her new adventure.
