The “light” of our lives has gone to his eternal
rest. Surrounded by family, our husband, father, son, grampie, and
brother, Paul Connolly, 56 of Guysborough Intervale went peacefully
into the waiting arms of loved ones. Paul was the son of Anna
(Chisholm) and late Leonard Connolly and the brother of ten siblings.
He was predeceased by infant siblings, Monica and
Joseph.
Paul was a highly respected electrician who owned and
operated “Crossroads Electric”. Professional intergrity was
of the utmost importance to Paul and he worked long and hard to ensure
that he met that standard. Paul had a genuine concern for others and
it was that generous spirit that made him have time for those he met.
He would be the first to ask “How are you?” not wanting to
dwell on his own illness or suffering. Paul knew the importance of
community, attended many events to support local endeavors, giving not
only his time but also his skill to turn the “lights”on.
Wherever friends and family were gathered is where Paul wanted to be.
Whether it was a bonfire at Grady’s Beach or a card game at
Campbell’s Lake, he was there for a good time. Paul had a
youthful spirit that endeared him to his many nephews, Uncle
Paul’s stories and “black rum” will always be
fondly remembered. Paul cherished his children, and all witnessed the
devotion and gentleness he had; especially for his “special
man,” Calum.
He will always be loved and missed by his wife Janice (Grady)
and their children, Jonathan (Victoria), Magdelyn (Brandon), Leann,
Calum, and William; also his daughter, Jacqueline Brophy. He is
survived by his mother, Anna Connolly; grandchildren, Adeline, Ethan,
Kayden, Kennedi and ten siblings; Mary Theresa (Danny) Rodgers,
Stephen (Cindy), David (Marcia), Pius (Lynn), Ruth (Dave) Welton,
Susan (John) Delorey, Richard (Kim), Gloria, Graham and Edward
(Corry). He will be greatly missed by his extended Grady family and
many nieces and nephews. We take comfort from Paul’s words
“I think it is a good time to go…I am ready”, and we say
“Go in Peace”.
The family wishes to extend a sincere thank-you to George
Rodgers, Dr. Robin Wu and Jenny Wu, Dr. Bell, Dr. Ranjini, Dr. Foley,
Karen Hoben and the wonderful staff of the Guysborough Memorial
Hospital, also Dr. MacCormick and the Saint Martha’s
Oncology Clinic. A special thanks to Paul’s sister Gloria
Connolly who provided him with guidance, comfort and support
throughout his illness.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, May
1st from 5 – 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, May
2nd from 2 – 5 and 7 – 9 p.m. in
Patrick’s Parish Hall, Guysborough Intervale. Mass of
Christian burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. at St.
Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough Intervale with
Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Family flowers only please and
donations, if so desired, may be made to the family. Words of comfort
