Owen Roderick McCarron
Sr., of Trenton, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August
22, 2018 in his 92nd year. Owen was born April 11, 1926, to William
and Florence (MacKinnon) McCarron. He was predeceased by his wife of
38 years, Audrey (Murphy). Owen worked at Hawker Siddley for 46 years,
as a welder. He retired at age 62 and enjoyed 30 years of retirement.
He enjoyed his time working with his many co-workers. In his early
days, Owen enjoyed days spent at the camp in Caledonia, fishing and
hunting. He was a member of the Trenton Fire Department for 26 years
and was Fire Chief for 9. He was a member of the Trenton Christ the
King Men’s Church Club. Owen is survived by sons: Rod (Pat),
New Glasgow; Gerry (Sue-Ellen), Ottawa; Blaine (Eileen), Trenton;
Lloyd (Bonnie), Trenton; and daughter, Sharon (John) Lumsden, Trenton.
He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Cale, Chad and Devon;
sisters: Joan Lesaux, Ottawa; Kay (Jack) Rehill, New Glasgow;
sister-in-law, Frances McCarron, Trenton; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters, Isabel, Helen and Phyllis in infancy;
brothers, Joseph, Bernard “Dewey” and Adrian.
Special thanks to Dr. Park and Dr. Hack, the VON and all other health
care professionals for their care. Visitation 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday,
in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High Street, Trenton. Funeral mass
11 am Saturday, at Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, New
Glasgow, with Fr. Tom MacNeil officiating. Burial will be in Christ
the King Cemetery, Trenton. No flowers by request. Donations in his
memory may be made to the VON or Aberdeen Health Foundation Oncology
Patient Fund.
