Baker, Owen Clark – Age 91 of West Jeddore. It is with heavy hearts we are sad to announce the passing of Owen Clark Baker on August 28, 2018. Born in West Jeddore, he was a son of the late Howard and Mabel (Mitchell) Baker.
Owen was predeceased by his siblings, Vincent, Muriel, Iola, June, Minerva, Alice; granddaughter, Anita Courtois. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rita; sons, Wayne (Gerry Usher) and Glenn (Roberta Bonn); his grandchildren, Meredith (Jeff) Tofflemire, Melanie (Will Robinson Mushkat), Baker Robinson, Grant Baker; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Georgia, Jaide, Bentley, Matilda and Sullivan.
Owen pursued several careers during the course of his life. In one of his first positions he had the distinction of delivering the first family allowance cheque in the city of Halifax. Subsequently he was employed at Sears for over 10 years, then found his calling as a salesman which he worked at for over 30 years. In his later years he worked as a security guard for several businesses, including the set of the Trailer Park Boys. Owen became a member of the Masonic Order on June 26, 1956 and belonged to the Duke of Kent in Spryfield and Ashlar Lodge in Musquodoboit Harbour. Owen was hardworking and kind-hearted, but with the typical Baker temper, who enjoyed hunting, fishing with his buddies, and he loved to have a drink with his family. Owen will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Cremation has taken place. An Eastern Star service will be held at 10:40 a.m., with funeral at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 31, both in Jeddore United Baptist Church, with Pastor Aubrey Deslatte officiating. Burial to follow in West Jeddore Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
