OBITUARY
Olga Zwahlen
December 5, 1928 – December 3, 2018
In loving memory of Zwahlen, Olga, née {Zust). Her heart ran out of beats in Kelowna General Hospital on December 3rd, 2018, 2 days shy of her 90th birthday.
Olga is survived by her four children, Rose (Clayton) Prince of Kelowna, Joan (Jim) Campbell of Penticton, Wally (Carolyn) Zwahlen and Sharon Zwahlen both of Dawson Creek. She also leaves 3 Grandchildren, Brittany Backer (Pouce Coupe), Micheal Prince (Kelowna), Steven McCurdy (Dawson Creek) and 1 Greatgrandchild, Jack) as well as several nephews and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter and her 9 siblings. She will also be missed by her beloved little dog, Dina(mite).
Olga emigrated from Switzerland with her family in 1939; they settled on farmland in Smithers, BC. She met and married Walter in Vancouver and then moved to northern BC. They settled in Pouce Coupe where they raised their children. Just prior to retirement Olga and Walter moved to the Okanagan where they lived until her passing.
Olga was an accomplished gardener and shared her plants and knowledge with many people. Her neighbours are happy to say that her garden lives on in every yard on her block.
A celebration of life will be held in July in the Pine Pass where the mountains reminded her of ‘back home in the old country’.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to JoeAnna’s House at KGH Foundation.
Olga’s family would like to thank the neighbours on her street who valued her friendship and looked out for her safety. They would like to say a special thanks to Dr. Baker and the staff on 2 South who gave Mom such skilled and compassionate care and to all the May Bennett Wellness Center staff and the many other local individuals who touched her life and made her wish of living out her life in her own home possible, thank you.
