Norbert A. Blanchet
July 21, 1938 – January 11, 2018

A long time resident of Falher, Alberta, Norbert Antoine Blanchet passed away at the Sacred Heart Community Health Centre in McLennan, Alberta, on January 11, 2018.
Norbert was born July 21, 1938 on the family farm south of Falher. After graduating from Routhier School in 1957, Norbert was a weatherman with the Department of Transport posted to many locations including Cape Parry on the DEW line. In 1978, Norbert went into business with his long time friends, Chuck and Carol Folks, operating Big Daddy’s Vending in Grande Prairie, Alberta. In 1985, Norbert came back to the Falher area and engaged in farming with his brother-in-law, Gaston Mencke, and later with the Mencke sons. Norbert continued his love of the weather providing many years of readings to Environment Canada, SARDA, CKYL, and the Smoky River Express. He retired in 2014 and from 2016 on, was a resident of the Manoir du Lac in McLennan.
Norbert was predeceased by his sisters Cecile (Louis Dumont) and Berthe (Alphee Pelletier).
Norbert is survived by his siblings Marie (Gaston Mencke), Gabrielle (Edmond Dechief), Martin (Karen Knight), and Angele (Rene Lemire), and many nieces and nephews.
A mass celebrating Norbert Blanchet’s life will be held on Saturday, April 21st, 2018, at 11 a.m., from Paroisse Ste-Anne Parish in Falher, Alberta.
