Noel Alfred Shepherd 1941 2018

Obituary for
Noel Shepherd
It is with broken hearts that the family of Noel Shepherd announce his peaceful passing at the age of 77 years.
Noel joined the RCAF in 1958. In 1960, he married the love of his life, Laraine, and they had two daughters, Susan and Sharon. Noel’s career took him and his family on many journeys with postings in Portage La Prairie, Centralia, Moose Jaw, Lahr, Baden, Ottawa and Cold Lake. His passion for aircraft was reflected in his work and he received numerous awards for excellence including the Order of Military Merit in 1973. After retiring at the rank of Master Warrant Officer in 1986 he continued his career at Bristol Aerospace and then Boeing.
In retirement Noel spent time building and flying radio-controlled model aircraft. He also sang in the choir at his church while serving as a lay reader and warden. A lover of nature, Noel enjoyed spending time with animals and being in the outdoors. He knew how to fix anything and was knowledgeable on any subject you could think of.
A loving, caring and dedicated husband and father, Noel will be greatly missed by his wife, Laraine, his daughters, Susan Rudanec (David) and Sharon Cadigan, and his three grandsons, Christopher, Bryce (Kim) and Graeme. He will also be lovingly remembered by his brother Tony Shepherd (Diannia), his sister Dina Stanfl (George), his brother Pat Shepherd (Cheryl), as well as his brothers-in-law Larry Chettle, David Chettle (Sandra) and Rick Chettle and their families. Noel was predeceased by his parents, Alfred and Hazel Shepherd, his in-laws, Herbert and Marguerite Chettle and his son-in-law, George Cadigan.
The family would like to extend its heartfelt appreciation to the kind staff at the Grace Hospice.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Avenue, Winnipeg, with the Reverend Raymond Knight officiating.
If friends and family wish, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Hospice through the Grace Hospital Foundation, 300 Booth Drive, Winnipeg, MB, R3J 3M7.
