Nicolina Chantel Ammazzini passed away peacefully at her home on July 27, 2018 at the young age of 6.
Nicolina was born on October 21, 2011 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Nicolina will be deeply missed by her parents Rick and Pamela; her big brother Matteo; her two cats Jilly and Jazzy; her grandparents Walter and Eleanor Chwartacki; grandfather Mario Ammazzini; great grandparents Laugi and Betty Melsted; great-grandmother Zennith Chwartacki; and numerous great aunts and great uncles; aunts and uncles and cousins.
Nicolina grew up in Winnipeg for almost 2 years before moving with her family to Sandy Hook 5 years ago. She attended Winnipeg Beach School from junior kindergarten to grade 1 making
lots of friends with fellow students and staff.
Nicolina was the type of person who brought smiles and laughter everywhere she went. She
bravely fought cancer for 5 long years from when she was diagnosed at the age of 2. She was
the toughest and bravest girl you ever met. She would light up any room she walked into and
make anyone laugh who looked like they would have needed it. Through her battle with cancer,
she never gave up once, fighting every battle along the way. She would even help the nurses
and doctors after every treatment and surgery that took care of her.
Nicolina loved taking the bus to and from school and going to school with her friends. She
enjoyed playing soccer every spring and her one year of ukrainian dance. She loved spending
as much time at her grandma and papa’s, playing with papa’s kitties, going on quad rides with
papa through the deepest ditches he could find and riding her battery quad, whipping up and
down their driveway and also at her home. She also enjoyed playing with her brother and
friends, especially when it came to water balloons. She also enjoyed swimming in the pool and
sitting in the hot tub at Aunty Catherine’s, and at home playing in the bath having a hard time
getting her out.
Nicolina enjoyed life to its fullest and everything it had to offer. She was an amazing and
beautiful girl who will be sadly missed by her family, friends and the communities of Gimli,
Sandy Hook and Winnipeg Beach.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made toward a bench in Nicolina’s memory which will be
donated to Winnipeg Beach School in an account in her name at the Gimli Credit Union.
Private service will be held.
A come and go lunch will be held at the Arnes Community Hall on Thursday, August 2, 2018 from
12:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to anyone who wishes to celebrate her life.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nicolina Ammazzini July 27 2018.source
Death notice for the town of: Selkirk, Province: Manitoba
My most sincere condolences go out to the Ammazzini family and appreciation to all of the doctors and nurses for all of their efforts with Nicolina. I was an EA at Winnipeg Beach School, in Nicolina’s grade 1 class and it was an absolute pleasure getting to know little Nikki. She was one strong little girl. I think I can speak for everyone at WBS when I say we will miss her deeply. Rest easy little Nikki.
