Born February 24, 1934 in Hamilton Ontario to Salvatore Anthony Rizzo and Rose Alfano
On October 1, 2018 the world suddenly lost the most loving, compassionate, kind and humble man.
He was a cherished husband to the love of his life Margaret (Simpson) for 60 years. Beloved hero to his five children Tony; Mike (Tammy); Paul (Lisa); Rosanne Berdusco; Catherine (Ed) Sverko. Wind beneath the wings of his grandchildren: Sarah (Andrew) Johnson, Rebecca; Jordyn, Alexandra; Nicholas, Daniel, Dylan; Michael, Emily, and William Berdusco; Katlynn (Sam) and LeeAnn Sverko. Brother to Dr. Joseph Rizzo (Sylvia Chitty) and beloved brother in law to all of Margaret’s family warmly known as the Simpson clan. Uncle to 29 adoring nieces and nephews, and friend to all who knew him. Nick attended medical school at queens university which he became a lifelong fan and fervant supporter of. Nick was involved in the medical community as family physician, professor at McMaster university, medical director of St. Joseph Hospital and a long list of accomplishments in education and medicine, including the Canadian Italian citizen of the year 2017. He was however most known for his care and compassion for all and his deep love for his wife and family. We will all miss his guidance, presence and love. A piece of our hearts are surely waiting in heaven. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – “William J. Markey Chapel”, 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Vigil Prayers will be Celebrated at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Luke’s Roman Catholic Church, 200 Mount Albion Road, Hamilton on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 9:30 am. Burial at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington. For those who wish, memorial donations made to the Congregation of the Sister of St. Joseph in Canada, 574 Northcliffe Avenue, Dundas, ON L9H 7L9 ATTN: Cal Lloyd or the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
