It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Neil ‘Neilie Mickey’ MacKinnon, age 83 of Sydney, formerly of Meadows Road, on October 23, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, January 18, 1935, he was the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Moore) MacKinnon. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was a member of the Plumbers & Pipefitters Union 682. He worked for both heavy water plants in Glace Bay and Port Hawkesbury, as well as many construction sites across Canada.
He leaves to mourn his sister Gloria, brother Joe (Sharon), many nieces and nephews as well as many friends especially Koziels, MacKinnon families and Marguerite MacDonald.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother Johnie, sisters Mary, Florence and Veronica and nephews Tony and Michael.
Cremation has taken place and a Christian Catholic funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, October 29th at St. Mary’s Church, East Bay with Fr. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment will take place in the parish cemetery following the mass.
