Nancy Elizabeth Hutson
August 20, 1942 – February 22, 2018
HUTSON, Nancy Elizabeth (Stevenson) – age 75. It is with heavy hearts and great sorrow that we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother and daughter on February 22, 2018 in the Evergreen Home for Special Care in Kentville. Born in Middleton, she was a daughter of the late Alvin and Enid (Kenny) Stevenson. “Nan”, as she was so affectionately known by her family and friends and “Mrs. Hutson” by her many students and colleagues that she worked with for over thirty years at the Bridgetown Regional Elementary School as the librarian and school monitor during her lunch breaks. She developed a special bond with many of her students that lasted a lifetime as she would see them in passing on her many walks through town, which she loved to do. Often Nan would be greeted by individuals who had long left the public school system with a friendly “Hello Mrs. Hutson”. She always remembered their names and would show a genuine interest in how they had been and what they had been up to. Nan devoted her life to her family, instilling her values and love of education in her children and grandchildren. She is survived by and missed eternally by her brothers Ronald (Marilyn),Middleton and Gary, Brickton; sister Barb (Randy), Bridgewater; her children Derren, Kentville; Stephanie (Paul),Calgary Alta; Kirk (Juliette),Bridgetown; grandchildren Gregory (Sarah), Justin, Molli, Kate and Sarah. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sister Maxine, who she missed dearly and we are grateful she is reunited with again in passing. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will take place at 2:00 pm Friday, March 2, 2018 in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main St., 902-825-3448 with the Rev. Leon Langille officiating. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Middleton at a later date.
