Mike Yakimishyn 2018

Obituary Overview
Lovingly Remembered
Mike passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018 at the age of 87 years and is survived by his wife Joan; his three children: daughter Linda (Bruno) of Rocky Mountain House, AB, son Ken (Rhonda) of Perth, Australia, and daughter Donna (Allan) of West Kelowna, BC; and his grandson Kristopher of Kingston, ON.
Mike was born on April 14, 1931 at the family homestead at Hilliard, AB. He was the fourth in a family of ten siblings. Mike spent his formative years at Hilliard, later living in Edmonton and eventually Calgary, which was his final destination and where he met Joan in 1953. They were married in 1956 and spent 62 wonderful years together. Mike’s lifetime career was in oil and gas exploration, spanning western Canada and the Arctic islands. For many years, he was a tireless and dedicated volunteer and supporter of boys and girls minor league sports by organizing, fund raising, and coaching. In his retirement years, Mike was a gym enthusiast, an ardent golfer, bagging three holes-in-one, and a student of the snooker game.
There will be a private family service.
