SIMKO, Michael – Peacefully, on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at Niagara Health St. Catharines Site at the age of 92. Dear husband of Katharine for 65 years. Loving father of Jeanette (Stefan) Kamendy, Christine (Mike) Dzugan, Kathleen (Nicholas) Trach and predeceased by his infant son Michael. Dzedo of Melissa, Christina (Matthew), John (Jodi), Carla (Ryan), Stefan (Francesca), Michael (Rosie), Laura (Rob), Luke, Nicholas (Angela) and Adrian. Great Grandfather to Joseph, John, Jamie, Jack, Lauren, Julia, Robbie, Rebekah, Erika, Daniel, Julia, Grace, Angelina, Niko and Charlotte. Brother of Edward (Mary) and predeceased by his sisters Mary Vyrostko, Ann Dzugan and Rose Rondos. He will be missed by several nieces and nephews. Michael worked for Reliance Electric in Welland for 18 years, and 25 years at General Motors. He was a member and a past president of the Canadian Slovak League Branch # 23 in Welland, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2319 Thorold, and a Eucharist minister at St. Patrick’s Church. Friends will be received at BOCCHINFUSO FUNERAL HOME 2 Regent Street, Thorold on Sunday, January 21, 2018 from 2 -4 PM and 7-9 PM. Vigil Prayers at 3 PM. Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 10 AM at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church 31 Chestnut Street East, St. Catharines. Father Richard Kowalchuk officiating. Rite of Committal will be held at Lakeview Cemetery. If desired, donations in Michael’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice and may be left at www.Bocchinfusofh.com
