Winch, Michael Austin
Passed away peacefully at Innisfree House Kitchener on October 4, 2018 after a
lengthy illness at the age of 59. Son of the late H. Austin Winch (October 2017) and S. Elsie Winch, nee
Greene (January 2017). Michael was lovingly cared for during his last months and will be dearly missed
by his cousin Christine Megaffin (Patrick). He will also be sadly missed by his Uncle John (Jack) Winch,
cousins Richard Wall (Marlene), Bill Roffey (Sandy), Greg Roffey, Jane Roffey (Gary Hill), Martha Cutting
(Rob), Joann Germanakos (Bernie Waters), Mary E. Libby (Andy), Dianne Tait and Ruthie Soutter, Bob
Greene (Judy) and Suzanne Weber (Don). Predeceased by cousins Bob Winch, Beth Bailey (Rob) and Bill
Broughton. Special friend of Pam Darby, Mary Cunningham and Nancy Cunningham. Michael attended
high school in Tokyo, Japan where he became fluent in Japanese, and he travelled extensively
throughout Asia. He was an avid animal lover and loved cooking ethnic foods. Michael served as a Food
Inspector for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency for over 27 years in the Hamilton/Niagara Region,
and volunteered many hours at the St. Catharine’s Hospital. Many, many thanks to the caring nurses,
staff and volunteers at Innisfree House. No service will be held. Memorial donations to Innisfree House,
Kitchener would be appreciated. Arrangements by Henry Walser Funeral Home, 507 Frederick Street,
Kitchener.
