Thomas Maurice Kelly, age 86, formerly of Nelson St. Stratford, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2017, at Greenwood Court in Stratford. Born in Downie Township, December 25, 1931, last surviving son of William Kelly and Margaret (Baker) Sloat. Predeceased by his parents, brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Alice), Pat, Wilfred (Helen), Vernon, Peter, Leo (Theresa), and Frank (Joyce), and step-father Francis (Mike) Sloat. Also predeceased by nieces and nephews, Peggy Lou Ballantyne, Donald Kelly, Bonnie Rose, Allen Kelly, Doug Kelly, and Beth Young. Survived by sisters-in-law, Wanita Kelly, Peggy Barkley, and Winnie Kelly, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton, and Greenwood Court, Stratford, for their excellent care. A farm equipment mechanic, Maurice worked at several farm equipment dealers, and Blackstone.
A lifelong bachelor, Maurice cared for his stepfather and mother until her death at age 95, and was a loving brother and uncle. We have lost our family’s great story teller and he will be fondly remembered.
Visitation at the Andrew L. Hodges Funeral Home, 47 Wellington St. S. St. Marys (519-284-2820) on Thursday, Jan. 4, from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Funeral Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Doug Loucks officiating. Reception following at the St. Marys Legion, 66 Church St. N., St. Marys.
Spring interment in Lakeside Cemetery on the Hill.
