Passed peacefully at the age of 84 he will be deeply missed and loved eternally. Born in Parkerview Saskatchewan Matt moved to BC in 1947 and married Louise McGill in 1963. They moved to Delta where they settled and raised their family. He is survived by his 2 daughters Tracy Hebert and Corrie Stuifbergen Grand daughters Ashley (Iggy), Elisha and Nicole Hebert Amanda (John) Allyssa Stuifbergen 2 great grandchildren Amelia and Demetrius Gomes. Survived by his siblings Dora, Peter and Martin and brother in law Anthony McGill and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his wife of 50 years Louise Woronik , parents Anne and George Woroniuk and siblings Nick, Mary, Lena, Dan, Nettie and Olga; Matt worked as a ship and dock foreman (Longshoreman/ head foreman in New Westminster and Port Moody Local 514. He was well known for his mischievous smile and jokes.
Prayers will be held at Avalon Surrey Funeral Home, 13288 108th Avenue, Surrey on Wednesday November 21 at 7:00pm. Funeral Mass at Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Mary, 10765 135a Street, Surrey on Thursday November 22 at 10:30am. Reception after the Mass, burial to follow.
