Obituary of Mary Myers
MARY ELIZABETH MYERS
Molly to all those who knew her – passed away peacefully at Markham Stouffville Hospital on Monday, April 23, 2018. She was 98. Her early years were spent between London, England and Bangor, Northern Ireland. In 1964 she immigrated to Canada with her husband, James Myers, and only daughter Maureen, discovering a way of life which she found most congenial. Soon after arrival here she began working at Bell Canada where she remained until her retirement. She enjoyed her work and the company of her colleagues, amongst whom she made lifelong friends.
Family was foremost in Molly’s life. She cherished her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was unstintingly helpful and quietly supportive of all her loved ones; yet she was fiercely independent and self-reliant, and even when living alone in advanced age, she seldom sought any help. Outliving her husband, to whom she was devoted, and sadly also her beloved daughter, she was regarded as a dear matriarch. Kind, but forthright from firm conviction, she earned the respect and love of all.
Molly will be greatly missed by granddaughter Nicole and her partner Tom; her sons Matthew and Jonathan; grandson David, his children Gwendolyn and Jake and their mother Haley; son-in-law Bill; her brother Fred and sister-in-law Yvonne and their family; brother-in-law Michael and Sharlene; and all those whose lives she touched.
It is requested that any tributes to her memory be made in the form of donations to The Hospital for Sick Children or the Canadian Cancer Society. Condolences, photographs and memories may be forwarded through www.humphreymilesnewbigging.com.
