Howe: Mary Catherine (nee Smyth)
Peacefully, at The Wynfield L.T.C Oshawa, surrounded by her family, on Friday April 6th, 2018, at the age of 93. Pre-deceased by her parents Robert Gordon and Margaret Catherine Smyth of Oshawa. Beloved wife of the late William Francis Howe. Loving mother of Mary Denise, John Joseph (Cynthia), William Francis (Barbara), and Peter Gordon (Lorna). Devoted grandma of Jessica, Emily, Jeffrey, Justin, Bridget, Krista, Sophie, D’Arcy, Liam, and Eleanor. Great grandmother of the precious Claire. Survived by her brother Bill and sister-in-law Lamie. Predeceased by siblings Grace, Robert, Patrick, D’Arcy, and Sally. Mary will be sadly missed by all of her nieces, nephews, friends, family and those who came to know her. A special thanks to the caring staff at Wynfield and to the volunteers of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, for their spiritual support. Married for 32 Years widowed for 35, Mary lived her life with incredible spirit, determination, and grace aided by her Roman Catholic faith.
Visitation will be held at the DeStefano Funeral Home, 1289 Keith Ross Drive, Oshawa (south side of Taunton Road, east of Thornton Road by the Oshawa Airport) 905-440-3595 on Monday April 9th from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday April 10th, 10:00 am at St. Gregory’s Catholic Church, 214 Simcoe Street N. Oshawa. Interment will take place at Assumption Catholic Cemetery, 6933 Tomken Rd, Mississauga, on Wednesday March 11th at 11:00 am.
