1927-2018
Mary Velma Alders – age 90, of New Minas, passed away on
Thursday, November 15, 2018 in the Valley Regional Hospital,
Kentville. Born in Woodside, she was a daughter of the late Carl and
Bertha (Huntley) Blois. She had been employed as a telephone operator
with MT&T for 35 years. Mary was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she held the
position of church librarian as well as a primary teacher. She was
also a volunteer at the Valley Regional Hospital Gift Shop. In her
earlier years, Mary enjoyed attending country music concerts and
blueberry picking. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Darlene
Alders, New Minas; a sister, Joan Munroe, Mountain Lea Lodge,
Bridgetown; nephew, Malcolm Munroe, Woodside; and niece-in-law, Geneva
Munroe, Black Rock. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by
a sister, Marjorie Blois; nephew David Munroe; brothers, Clayton,
Keith, Maurice and Leeland. There will be no visitation, by request.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November
21, 2018 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,
Kentville, First Counselor Roy Bush officiating. The family would
appreciate a scent free environment. Burial will take place in the
Hillaton Cemetery, Hillaton. Donations in memory may be made to
charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements have been
entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services,
Kentville.
