Obituary for Mrs. Mary Stephenson
Passed peacefully with her family by her side at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre, Barrie on Thursday, December 20th, 2018 at the age of 68. Loving wife of Harold. Cherished mother of Tanya and of the late Sandra. Predeceased by her parents Al and Louise Morley. Will be sadly missed by her siblings, Caroline Stephenson (Barry), Lorraine Brett (Harry) and Bob Morley (Adele), her aunt, Marilyn Ortiz (Art), as well as many long-time friends through her years of contribution within the Barrie area. Mary began volunteering with the Brownies in the late 1980’s and, through her ongoing involvement, eventually became the Commissioner of Central District Girl Guides of Canada. She was also quite active at Collier St. United Church, volunteering with Harold in the Out of the Cold Program and participating for several years with their Jesus Walk group for youths and adults with developmental disabilities. Visitation will take place at the Steckley-Gooderham Funeral Home, 30 Worsley St., Barrie on Thursday, December 27th, 2018 from 1 pm until the time we celebrate Mary’s life in the Chapel at 2 pm. Following the service, guests are invited to remain for a reception luncheon in the Lounge. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated by the family.
