Obituary of Mary ‘Mame’ Lahey
Passed peacefully away at her residence in Mount Pearl on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, Mary ‘Mame’ Lahey of Harbour Grace; formerly of Bell Island, age 78 years. Predeceased by husband: Matthew (April 2016); daughter: Mary ‘Elaine’; son: Johnny Charles; grandson: Alexander Joseph McEachern; parents: Charles and Mary Adams; sister: Helen Purcell. Leaving to mourn, three children: Matthew (Fiona) and Veronica McEachern, both of Ontario, and Garry (Karen), Mount Pearl; five grandchildren: Dereck, Lucas, Brooklyn, Ryan, and Kyle; five great-grandchildren: Brayden, Breanna, Alex, Jayden, and Maddison; one brother: Alfred (Jean) Adams, Harbour Grace; five sisters: Marg (Tom) McCarthy, Harbour Grace, Madeline Hamilton, Paradise, Betty Fewer, Harbour Grace, Marie Murphy and Veronica Crann, both of Ontario, and Evelyn Rees, Bell Island; brothers-in-law: Wally (Della) Lahey, Blackhead and Bill (Helen) Lahey, Ontario; sisters-in-law: Theresa Thomey, Bristol’s Hope and Shirley O’Shea, Harbour Grace; special friends: Clyde Reynolds, Jack and Chris Noseworthy, and Linda Sheppard; also a large number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. A special thank you is extended to Dr. Joy McCarthy and Dr. Lori Hayward, and staff at Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre. Resting at Noel’s Funeral Home, Harvey Street, Harbour Grace on Sunday, 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Mass to take place on Monday, October 29 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Riverhead, Harbour Grace. Cremation to follow. Inurnment to be held on Thursday, November 1 at 2:00 p.m. at the Roman Catholic Cemetery, Harbour Grace. As an expression of sympathy, flowers are gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Centre, 300 Prince Philip Drive, St. John’s, NL, A1B 3V6.
