JEFFERIES, Mary Ellen (nee Gravelle)
March 30, 1928 – August 25, 2018.
Passed away peacefully on August 25, 2018. Mary Ellen was predeceased by her loving husband Charles Jefferies and older sister Florine Rochefort. She is survived by her loving family: Patricia Jefferies Romero (Ricardo), Rachel and Rhiannon. Joseph Jefferies (Brenda), Katie, Luke and Matthew. Michael Jefferies (Debbie), Jacob, Meghan and Melissa. Nephews Larry Rochefort (Pat), David Rochefort (Debby) and James Rochefort (deceased). Visitation will be held on Wednesday August 29 at 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7pm to 9 pm at the James Reid Funeral Home, 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 11:00am. Rite of Committal with prayers to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Mary Ellen grew up in Glenburnie and later Kingston. She graduated from the St. Joseph’s School of Nursing and worked at the Hotel Dieu hospital and later Alcan as an Industrial nurse. She was committed to her family and community and was a proud Kingstonian. In retirement she enjoyed traveling with her husband Charles and walks along Kingston waterfront were a ritual. Family was a source of pride and she was a dedicated mother to her family and relatives to the end. She enjoyed playing cards and was an avid hockey and football fan, as long as one of her children or grandchildren were playing.
