Mary Ellen Chant RN December 21 2018

Mary Ellen Chant RN
Glace Bay/Sydney
It is with heartfelt sadness that we share with our family and friends the passing of our dear mother, grandmother, and wife of 58 years to her adoring husband. Born on November 19, 1939 Mary Ellen was the youngest child of Everett and Lena Grant (Buchanan).
Mary Ellen is survived by her husband, Allister; her four sons, Kevin (Susan King), Robbie, John (Pam) and Todd (Cherie), and grandchildren, Ally, Christy, Kenneth, Tyler, Cheyenne and Faith.
She is predeceased by her brothers, Billy and Everett; her sisters, Martha, Rhoda Brufatto and Bernice Stewart; a granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Chant (in infancy), and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Ellen graduated from the Glace Bay General Hospital School of nursing in 1960 and worked at the Glace Bay General Hospital. After working for the Hospital, the greatest gift she ever received was to have the honour of working at the Bridgeport School as the on-staff RN for a pilot project for special needs children.
Christmas was her favourite time of the year. Decorating began early in November and was always done with great enthusiasm. Family gatherings and family occasions and celebrations were the most important things she cared about.
Mary Ellen was actively involved with the Epworth United Church and served as Head of the Lobster Supper Committee and on the Board of Elders and was Treasurer for the Mission Fund.
Cremation has already taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral as per her wishes. A private family service will be held at a later date.
Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Ellen Chant RN December 21 2018..
