Mary Elizabeth Kalberg died in the presence of her loved ones on Friday, November 16, 2018 at Drayton Valley Continuing Care. She was born on September 18, 1922 in Bittern Lake, Alberta to Herbert and Goldie Heighington. In 1941, she married Norveile McGhie who passed after 27 years of marriage and having raised three beautiful daughters, Mavis, Sharon and Joyce. She remarried to Lloyd Kalberg, and together, they enjoyed the expansion of their family and farmed near Breton for 20 years before Lloyd’s passing. Mary was the last surviving member of The Funnell Mothers Club who met monthly for community and charitable contributions. Mary was particularly known for her smile, generosity and her never ending dedication to her family. She is survived by her 3 daughters, 1 son-in-law, 9 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren. Mary is also predeceased by her beloved son-in-law, Stan Sunderland. Mary’s Life will be celebrated at Lindale Community Hall on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Keith Balkwill officiating. For those who so desire, memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made directly to S.T.A.R.S.,1441 Aviation Park NE, Box 570, Calgary, Alberta T2E 8M7, a beloved charity she supported regularly.
