Cook, Mary Catherine – Age 91 of Middle Musquodoboit, passed away July 10, 2018, in Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital. Born in Centre Musquodoboit, she was a daughter of the late Harold and Laura (Eisan) Kent.
Mary spent many years of her life as a volunteer for which she received many awards. She was a charter member of Middleton UCW where she held various offices. She was a member and honourary elder of Middleton United Church. In 2011, she was Fair Person of the Year at the Halifax County Exhibition. She was treasurer of Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Healthcare Auxiliary, was secretary of Enterprisers 50 Plus Club, and treasurer of Musquodoboit Valley Canadian Diabetes Association.
Mary was a loving, inspiring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will always be loved by daughters, Laura (Randy) Saueracker, Edmonton, Alta.; Jessie Henneberry, Montague, P.E.I.; grandchildren, Jason (Ashley) Henneberry, Michelle Henneberry, Alexis (Jeff) Labrecque, Angelika Saueracker, Allie (Tyler) Potts; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Grace, Alexander, Kaiden; niece, Claire Castle; brother-in-law, Reginald Farnell. She was predeceased by her husband, John; sister, Dorothy Farnell; brothers, Arthur and James Kent; brother-in-law, Ivan (Alice) Cook; nephew, Douglas Cook.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, and funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, both in Middleton United Church, Rev. Dr. Linda Yates officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Middle Musquodoboit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Middleton United Church, Musquodoboit Valley Health Foundation or a charity of choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit.
