Mary Anne Anderson 19422018

Mary Anne Anderson
1942-2018
Mary Anne (nee Campbell) Anderson, with her husband John at her side,
passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at her home following an 18
month journey with cancer. Mary was born in Sudbury on November 23,
1942 and grew up in Islington (West Toronto.) She attended London
Teacher’s College and then Queen’s University. There she
met and married John. After graduation they moved to Annan, Ontario
(near Owen Sound,) then to Toronto and Scarborough, followed by
Regina, Saskatchewan, and later to Listowel, Ontario, before settling
for the last 32 years in Cambridge, Ontario.
Mary worked as a teacher in Owen Sound, was a full-time parent to her
four children, and then returned to school to obtain her
Master’s degree in Psychotherapy. She worked as a
secondary-school Counsellor with at-risk youth through Cambridge
Interfaith Family Counselling Centre before being hired by Shepell-FGI
as an Employee Assistance Counsellor where she worked until her
retirement in 2013. She loved cross-stitch, quilting, and various
other handcrafts. But most of all she loved her growing family and her
wide circle of friends. She was an active member of Wesley United
Church.
Mary will be deeply missed by her husband John; by her four children
… Kristan, Jeremy (& Meredith,) Michael (& Cynthia ) and
Jennifer (& Geoff McLaren), as well as by ten grandchildren
… Sage (&Kohl,) Eilish, Hannah & Sheam’n; Connor
& Skye; Isabel & Jasmine; and Avery & Gillian. Her passing
is also grieved by her twin sister Elizabeth (& Flavelle,) and her
two brothers John (& Rosemary,) David (& Nancy,) and by
countless friends who have been touched and transformed by her warm
and generous capacity to love. She was predeceased by her
granddaughter, Madeline; and lived to welcome the recent birth of her
first great granddaughter, Maya.
A service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving will be held at Wesley
United Church, 6 Cambridge Street, Cambridge, on Saturday, October 20
at 3:30 p.m. No flowers, please; but feel encouraged to make a
donation in Mary’s memory to either “Doctors Without
Borders,” or the “Mission and Service Fund” of the
United Church of Canada.
