It is with our broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing our beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin and best friend to so many, Mark (y) who passed August 9, 2018 in Edmonton. AB. Born on October 4, 1994, Mark was the son of Gail (Thistlethwaite) Wentzell and the late Stephen Wentzell in Halifax, NS. Mark is survived by his brother Evan Wentzell, Grandparents Irene and Phil Beeler, Sandra and Thomas Worden and Linda and Aubrey Wood, special Aunts Lynn, Maureen and Jackie, surrogate Aunt Val and several other Aunts, Uncles and dear cousins. He is predeceased by his beloved father Stephen Wentzell, grandparents Les and Jess Thistlethwaite, Ernest Wentzell, Nita Rushton and Lorna and Angus Wentzell.
Mark’s visitation will be held at A L Mattatall Funeral Home, 217 Portland St, Dartmouth on Friday, Aug 17th between the hours of 6-9pm, Mark’s funeral will be held on Saturday, August 18th at 1:00pm at A L Mattatall Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted towards the cost of bringing Mark home to Nova Scotia to his final resting place, details can be given at the Funeral Home.
Mark was born in Halifax and attended schools in Kingston, Ontario and Red Deer, AB. Mark ultimately graduated in his hometown of Dartmouth, NS at Prince Andrew High School in 2012. Mark was a gifted athlete and excelled in several sports including Snowboarding (conquering black diamond runs in Banff at the age of 10), skateboarding, hockey (Cole Harbour/Bel Ayr Minor League), minor soccer, basketball, parcour (often off of roofs of houses and schools) and any other extreme sport he could challenge. He always pushed the limits of what his body was capable of and often times his body pushed back (as our collection of casts can attest to).
For those who knew Mark are so aware of his many passions and zest for life. These passions include his automobiles, his music (anything between Guns and Roses to Ememiem), his Toronto Maple Leafs, his tattoos, his work and so many more. Mark will be remembered most of all, his undying love, loyalty and compassion for his family and very close friends he held close in his heart and I know they hold him in their hearts eternally.
Mark lived his life according to one of his favourite tattoos “Loyalty Honour Respect”. His spirit will be etched in our hearts forever. Our world has shifted, Rest easy, my son…rest easy
