Passed away peacefully on Friday, February 2nd, 2018 at the Lennox and Addington County General Hospital at the age of 86.
Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on May 9, 1931 to Carrie and Ray Forbes, Marjorie is predeceased by sisters, Nancy, Eva (Gillies) and brother Ray. Marjorie will be fondly remembered by her husband, George Elliott, her five children, Phillip (Sandra), Peter (Melissa), Betsy (Ken), Chris (Kim), Trisha (Martin) and brother Eric Forbes (Debra). She will also be dearly remembered by her eleven grandchildren, great granddaughter and many loving nieces, nephews, stepfamily, and friends near and far.
Marjorie attended business college, studied at the University of New Brunswick and worked for the RCMP in Fredericton. At age 22, she married George, and they relocated to Trois Rivieres, La Tuque, Parry Sound, Bracebridge, Cochrane, Chapleau Newmarket, Thunder Bay and Bath. In her 50s, Marjorie completed her ARCT with the Royal Conservatory of Music and continued to teach piano and accompany choirs until very recently. She loved concerts, cooking, golfing, social events, volunteering and the outdoors. She was also an avid family historian- having traced her family tree to the 12th century. Marjorie will be remembered for her great sense of humour, sweet nature, and love for music and travel.
A funeral service in memory of Marjorie will be held on Tuesday, February 6, at 2:00 p.m. at Bath United Church (402 Academy St, Bath, ON). The family is grateful to the attentive staff at LACGH’s palliative care unit. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
